| Symptom |
- Empty stain bottle.
- Poor staining quality.
- Intermittent poor staining on slides.
- Front right trap chamber filling up with stain.
- Pale stain.
- Stain level marks on the slides.
- Top of the smear not adhering to the slide.
- No detail in the stain.

| Possible Causes |
- Stain blockage in tubing in analyzer.
- Stain pipette’s blocked with crystallisation from stain.
- Stain plunger in stain bottle blocked from sediment in Kinetic stain bottle.
- Stain pipette’s not delivering correct volume of stain into cassettes.

- Is it an intermittent or constant issue?
- Are there any level marks on the slide?
- How long has this issue been occurring?
- Does it affect the whole slide or only part of the slide?

- Execute shutdown 2 and restart procedure multiple times
|
- Execute stain line rinse.

Execute the below procedure
Methanol Rinse Procedure
- Replace stain bottle with methanol bottle.
- On main menu screen, press ‘Maintenance’
- On Maintenance screen press ‘Reagent replace’
- Press ‘Stain 1’.
- Press ‘ok’.
- Replace reagent 4 times to ensure all stain has been exited from system.
- Return back to main menu.
- Select ‘Manual’
- Select ‘Smr + Sta’ located next to Op Mode
- Select ‘Stain’ from drop down menu.
- Place sticker on sensor as shown in the attached image.
- Ensure there are enough cassettes.
- Select start and leave for 20-30 minutes.
- Select stop.
- Replace methanol bottle with stain bottle.
- Perform steps 2-14.
- Select ‘Stain only’ located next to Op mode.
- Select ‘Smr + Sta’ from drop down menu.
- Remove sticker from sensor.
- Replace methanol bottle with stain bottle.
- Perform steps 2-17.
Methanol rinse completed.
NOTE: - If slides are pale after methanol rinse, perform steps 15 onwards. - Running test slides also can help bring the colour back to the slides.
